Aquatic and marsh vegetation of the north-eastern Italy. 2 - The class Potametea Klika in Klika et V. Novák 1941. The rhizophytic vegetation belonging to Potametea in north-eastern Italy is described. Eighteen associations and ten plant communities have been identified, belonging to four alliances (Ranunculion fluitantis, Potamion, Ranunculion aquatilis, Nymphaeion albae) and one order (Potametalia). Two associations are described as new: Potametum prolixi and Sparganio-Vallisnerietum spiralis. For each community, information about the floristic composition, syntaxonomy, synphysionomy, synecology and synchorology is provided. The study pointed out the progressive reduction or disappearance in many localities of the most precious typologies, as a result of environmental modifications and of the eutrophication of water bodies.
